When something spills on a suit or dress, blot gently with a clean cloth, do not rub, keep it away from heat, and tell your cleaner what it was. Heat from pressing or drying can set a stain, and rubbing can damage the surface.
What should you do right away?
- Blot with a clean cloth or tissue, working from the outside in
- Avoid unknown products, especially on silk or wool
- Do not press or blow-dry the area
- Note the type of stain and when it happened
Which stains are especially hard?
Old stains, heat-set stains and those that changed the colour tend to be hardest. Sugary drinks may be invisible at first and darken later, so mention them even if you cannot see them.
What do we tell you before accepting?
We do not promise that every stain will come out, but we tell you plainly what is possible. See our terms, suit cleaning and dresses and formalwear.
FAQ
Can I wipe it with plain water?
Some fabrics, especially silk, can water-mark, so blot dry first.
Should I put salt on red wine?
We do not recommend it on dry clean garments. Blotting and passing it to a professional is safer.
How soon should I send it?
The sooner the better. Tell us when the stain happened.
